Most people have little left to do besides try for 50/50. And no way can you get 50/50 just by playing through the game.

Anyone who believes that really hasn't worked out just how expensive it is. Specifically, Obsidian, Vabbian and Elite Kurz/Luxon armors are required, the rest can be the cheapest elite armor you can get. You need to get all the extra heroes and their elite armor, which means either farming the items or buying them. And you need 1 tormented, 1 Oppressor and 1 destroyer weapon and then 12 more of any of those types.

Assuming you only PVE, you've also got to buy keys for the PVP statue, or play a form of the game you don't like.

cosyfiep said it perfectly, it's not a game goal to be rich, more of an objective people set themselves so they have something to do.

Depends on definition of rich - ages back i was just under the 1000k mark and not being one for fancy weapons/armor it took me several months to whittle that amount down to under 100k - and was on small minor things.
I`ll spend a bit of time making another 100 consets an selling them so i have some cash again to buy minis.
But when i do make/sell the consets its not the money that makes me feel gd but knowing i earned it myself farming the mats ( few runs daily for a week or 2 - nothing serious ) - bit like the feeling when you get your first ever paycheck in a job.
Some ppl like the challenge of making a huge amount of cash - finding ways to get that little extra something or getting every mini ingame or an uber rare sword .
Sometimes its not the goal to be rich but finding a way to get there is - eg starting with 20k and seeing how far it can take you via power trading - some of us may see that as boring and risky but others sieze that challenge like its life of death and thats their "rush" and they enjoy that sort of thing.

Life - where the hell are you when sj boardwalks open - theres usually quite an amount of 9ring afkers lagging up gw with their minis out ... they are usually also the ones with the damn u2434 l34533 crap in trade ( like anyone cares ) - Ive seen a few guildies go bankrupt on those events.Then again you may not have factions campaign ... bleh just ignore me lol

1-Define what is "Rich" for you. A stack of ecto? of armbrace? a panel maybe? It matter imo. If you are a experienced player but that (like me) trown all his efforts in titles almost ignoring money, have more than 50 e is a mirage. Then open "High end" section of auction, and look at bids. It's not the same idea of rich.

2-Why everyone want do be rich? To be able to insta-buy every kind of stuff you like that pass in Kama trade chat. Instead of making calculations (as i have to do) to do not spend too much money when u buy something.

Some people want to max out the Party Animal, Drunkard and Sweet Tooth titles and don't want to wait till a holiday rolls around.

I think the stack of ecto is a pretty decent benchmark. I would bet that that level of in game wealth is probably putting you in the top .5% or so of the active game population.

Don't forget there's people who buy gold and lots of it for those titles. Also the treasure hunter title is easy to max at Easter.

Heck I've seen some people complain about skill hunter, which is ~300kish? Add significantly more if you want it via tomes.

The entire point of accumulating wealth for me is to make 50/50 & GWAMM before GW2. Otherwise I spend all my money on cons for doing record runs/dungeons with friends/guilds.

Because I happen to enjoy the majority of the items that are considered 'rich' items. I ACTUALLY LIKE OBSIDIAN ARMOR(Wowomgbbq i kno right), I love the froggy, I love VS, I love Crystalline swords, I also love people who QQ about us who like the high end items, so I buy them to annoy those people. Nah, I kid, well, sorta.

I do the same for RL, I buy a big TV, lots of nice clothing, expencive chocolate, and yeah. I personally see no problem in it. I'm materialistic, I can admit that, to a degree.

Yeah, and the PvE peeps don't buy gear because they can't afford it. Those people who go for very high end items tend to be high end PvP players too. -.- Especially because they have 'trends' there

Me? I have zero interest in GWAMM or 50/50. At 30/50, I'm getting everything practical for GW2, and I just play now for relaxation. I've got the only mini-pets that matter to me.

Simple answer is it isn't important at all to be rich.

Unless you are going to fill up the hom and then money acts as a shortcut.

Pretty much everything in the hom takes either time money or both.
